Ride Planning
Overview
On this ride, you will explore the
special places in the state -- towns, state parks and
scenic routes. But through it all, our focus will be
on the shared experiences; ones that you can talk about
each night and for years afterwards. It is also about
meeting people and having fun.
Evenings will probably end early after a big day of riding,
but we plan have entertainment at lease one night. If any of you have a
special talent you would like to share, we would love to
include you in the evening entertainment. Just let us
know.
Training
Let’s
face it, the better shape you are in the better you
will be able to enjoy the ride. Pick a distance you
want to ride each day and get yourself to the point where you can
ride that distance 2 days in a row, and you will do fine.
Always expect hills!
SAG
Since sometimes things don’t work out the way you would like
them to, we have a SAG wagon. Each day we will sweep the route to
provide assistance if you need it. Also, if you have a cell phone
you will be able to call a number to request assistance (Sorry, but
it is unlikely that the SAG wagon will be able to help with anything
but minor repairs), In the event, you cannot continue to ride; we will transport
you and your bike to the next snack stop or to the next overnight site. Each
evening, a mechanic will be available for repair work (charges may
apply). It is recommended that each rider be covered by a medical
insurance policy at all times in case of emergency. The most common
problem with bikes is flat tires. Be sure that you know how to change
yours and that you have the proper tools, a pump, an extra tube, and
a patch kit.
